FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

*How long have you been a hairstylist and makeup artist? Where are you based?

I received my Master Cosmetologist license March 2010 and have been working as a licensed hairstylist since then. I started cutting and styling hair almost a decade before I decided to pursue it as a career. I started offering makeup services October 2013 when I started Pure Beauty by Patience (formerly Intensify by Patience). I am currently based in Warner Robins, GA.

*How far will you travel to provide services?

So far I have serviced clients in Vermont, Washington, Wyoming, Montana, California, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, The Carolinas, and all over Georgia.

*Since the end of 2024, the use of the terms “conscious” and “low-tox” are used on your Instagram and now your website, what does that mean for you as an artist?

Yes, conscious, meaning I care about my clients enough to only choose products for my kit that aren’t harmful to their health. I’m not adding every TikTok viral product to my kit just to be trendy. I’m also not lugging around a huge kit of makeup with expiration dates I’m not keeping track of. The bigger the makeup kit, the more to keep track of and honestly I don’t think a lot of makeup artists do. Sanitizing products means nothing if it’s expired. I will continue to say it loud and proud because this involves people’s health…EXPIRED MAKEUP SHOULD NOT BE USED ON CLIENTS OR YOURSELF! You wouldn’t eat moldy, expired bread, so why would you pay money to have expired, bacteria harboring products on your face??? This awareness means making sure no products in my kit have highly toxic, hormone-disrupting ingredients in them, therefore more on the low-tox side. In hopes of attracting clients that are aware or becoming aware of all the crazy, health-disrupting ingredients in some makeup and hair products, I am marketing myself as a “conscious, low-tox makeup and hair artist”. I have done hours of research in re-doing my entire hair and makeup kit to make sure the products I’m using are as low-tox as possible. So, I still do my style of hair and makeup, just with better-for-you products

*What brands of makeup products do you use?

I use clean, low-tox makeup brands ranging from Well People, Ilia, RMS, to Cover FX currently in my kit. Clean beauty is not just a trend, I believe that it is here to stay! You can have flawless, long-wear makeup without the toxins and chemicals that have been marketed in a lot of commerical brands. The more awareness I have gained on this, the more I feel held accountable to be more conscious of what I am putting on clients’ skin and to choose products that I know will benefit their skin and overall health, not harm it!

*Do you practice sanitation during sessions?

Yes! Sanitation is important and should be a practice of any professional makeup artist. I use a freshly cleaned set of makeup brushes on each and every client. I thoroughly clean and sanitize my kit after each appointment. I apply mascara with a disposable mascara wand for each coat to prevent double dipping. I apply lipstick to a palette and use a disposable applicator to apply it to a client's lips. The only time I apply straight from the tube is if I am giving/selling that tube to the client. I also sanitize my hands in between and before I touch each client’s face. When I style hair, you will NEVER see me whip out a brush loaded with previous clients' hair or use bobby pins that have been used in anyone else's hair. I use separate, clean combs and brushes for each client and any bobby pins used are brand new.

*Do you require a retainer/deposit to hold my wedding date/appointment?

Yes, I require a retainer/deposit for ALL bookings. For weddings, a bridal contract and retainer are required to secure your wedding date. For all other non-wedding appointments, all that is required to secure your appointment on my calendar is a deposit. If the appointment is held, the deposit is credited towards your total cost. The remaining amount is due on the appointment date. If the client cancels for any reason, the deposit will be credited to a future session date within a year of the original date booked.

*When should I schedule my trial-run and where will it be held?

Trial-runs are held 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding date and are mandatory! Trials are held at the client's home or location of choice, however there may be a travel fee incurred. There is also the option to come to me in Warner Robins, GA.

*What if I have additional questions?
